Size:King  |  Color:Natural We’ve designed a safe and incredibly soft electric blanket that is probably one of the most comfortable blankets you’ll ever have the luxury of snuggling up in. This electric blanket starts with super soft micro-plush fabric that is refreshingly smooth next to your skin for the ultimate in luxurious comfort. Constructed within the blanket is the patented Safe & Warm low-voltage technology. This low-voltage blanket includes a small power supply box that changes 120 volt AC home current into non-hazardous low voltage DC current (very similar to a battery) to provide warmth, protection and safety even if the blanket becomes wet. Unlike other warming blankets with their thick bulky wires, the wires in the Soft Heat blankets are so small and thin; they are virtually unnoticeable. During construction we place the thin wires 3-inches apart and evenly distribute them from head to toe. The benefit to you is a blanket that gives more of an even heat and all over penetrating warmth with no annoying hot or cold spots. The queen size blanket is divided in two separate zones and comes standard with two easy to read, easy to turn, non-slip computerized controllers to adjust the temperature of each side of the bed giving individual comfort and control. A giant backlit display with auto dimming feature provides more convenience for night time adjustments with out having to turn on the lights. It has an automatic pre-heat and hold feature that makes sure that your bed is warm and cozy before you climb in for the night. You simply turn it on and the blanket will warm up on HI until it reaches the temperature that you pre set your dial on and then adjusts itself to hold it there. For your safety, convenience and power conservation it has an automatic shut off feature that will shut the blanket off after 10 hours just in case you forget. It also comes standard with built in over-temperature protection for that extra bit of safety and peace of mind. This warming product has been designed to provide you a gentle relaxing heat. It will NOT feel warm to the touch of your hand, even on the highest (HI) setting. You must actually use it to experience the cozy warmth that it will generate. If the control lamp is lit, it is working. We suggest you start at the HI setting for the first use and then adjust down to your personal comfort level. I own two. Both purchased from Amazon. I have no idea why I am not a verified purchaser.Anyway, things to consider with this blanket. Low voltage will give you virtually NO electric bill. I have left them on by mistake and never saw an electric jump. Since I have two and use them daily,(one on my couch for daytime comfort and one on my bed) I would know if the electric bill changed on a monthly/seasonal basis. It does not.The low voltage also presents a potential problem because of the tiny wires imbedded used to heat. Just last week, the older blanket (about 5 yrs old) had a problem for the first time. On closer inspection I found that the wires coming from the imbedded receiver in the blanket had broken. I think that this will eventually happen. I was able to re-connect the wire by soldering it and using shrink wrap to seal the union. This required opening the blanket up by cutting a small flap in the fabric. Not something that everyone would want to do. But it is low voltage. This should extend the life of the blanket for another year or two.IF I had not done this, the blanket is still well worth the price and the wonderful comfort I get from this type of blanket. Only those who have one of these can really know how comfy the heat is. The heat is very even with no hot spots. I have a queen bed but purchased the smaller size because I like to be able to get away from the heat sometimes in the night if I wake up hot.Hope this review helps you make a choice.

The controller on the old style blankets is a thermostat that you hear clicking on/off through the night. The old style controllers cycle on/off at maximum heat — moreover, they work by sensing the room temperature. I understand that many people may want to feel that sudden surge of heat, however in my case, I wanted a blanket that will remain warm through the nightThis low voltage blanket works differently. The controller does not cycle on/off; these controllers maintain continuous power supply to the wires, so the amount of heat that the blanket produce is always fix (user selectable). Once you turn on the controller, the elements in the blanket will remain energized continuously through the night for a maximum of 10 hours, before the controller automatically turns it off.The controller graduates the amount of heat from low to high that one selects ( how hot the blanket gets). The blanket always maintains the selected constant temperature throughout the night without sudden bursts. It is a constant soft heat without on/off cycling. Once you get accustomed to how it works, the chances are that you will end by using the lowest settings. The blanket operates with a low voltage (18 Volts), the cables are thinner, and the blanket is lighter.I feel safer than wrapping myself in an old style blanket where the voltage running through the cables is 120 VAC.Last year I bought a Serta blanket which is very similar to this one since then Serta has increased the prices astronomically, that is why I decided to buy and try this one. Compared to the Serta that I have; this blanket has the same controller, it works, and it feels the same.It doesn’t come packed in a fancy box, it came wrapped and sealed in a clear plastic bag, with the instructions. If you are expecting to come out of the cold and wrap yourself in a hot blanket, you will be disappointed. Since that is not the way, these low voltage blankets are intended to work. Will this blanket be useful, for setting your home thermostat heat at 45 F and wrap yourself in a hot blanket? No, it will no do that effectively. It will work very well with room temperatures above 65F.However, it all depends on your tolerance to cold, and how you are accustomed to cold weather, people from Florida have a different conception of what is cold weather and how cold a room is from those that live in Alaska.I hope that you like the review.

I’ve owned three previous low voltage electric blankets for different beds over time and I am sold on the technology. I won’t go into all of the details because you wouldn’t be here looking at them if you didn’t already know the pros and cons. I just want to add a few personal observations to what you already know. One is that for whatever reason there are some places that think these things should cost a fortune. The technology here isn’t rocket science, a low voltage blanket shouldn’t cost any more than a regular one. Oddly with this brand the tan color I chose was much less than any other color or brand, with the identical thing in some other colors costing almost three times as much. Shop carefully if color isn’t a major issue for you, it’s not for me – the blanket will always be hidden under a bedspread anyway.Compared to some others this one has a rotary control dial. I prefer that, it is simpler to use especially in the dark, there is a wider range of temperatures and less to go wrong. I would not feel the same way about rotary controls for regular electric blankets because some of them turn on and off with a loud clicking sound but this one is totally silent. I think the way it works is that it keeps a constant temperature rather than clicking on and off. And speaking of sounds, some have noted that they hear a high pitched sound with some blankets. I don’t think that is normal, I’ve never heard it from any low voltage blanket I’ve owned and I don’t hear it from this one.As far as being a fire hazard, the reality is that anything that uses electricity can become a fire hazard, it is total luck of the draw. They sell millions of these things and it is very rare that one has a problem and who knows, that could be due to a thousand different thing, including user abuse or misuse. This particular model has over 3000 customers reporting about it and literally a handful who may have encountered a defect or misused it. I had a car once that had an engine fire, I would never think of saying I’ll never own a Ford again because they can catch fire. In other words I wouldn’t worry about it.If you have never actually used a low voltage blanket you might think at first that it doesn’t get as hot as a regular electric blanket. That’s only partially true, most traditional electric blankets get hot, turn off, cool down and get hot again. A low voltage blanket raises the temperature under the blanket enough to warm you up and keep you warm at a constant temperature. Different technologies, same results. In terms of actual real life use, the first night which was very cold I started it at the 5 position and it was very toasty, in fact it was too warm for me. I ended up settling on the 2 position as my ideal sleeping temperature. It’s simply not true that low voltage blankets don’t get warm, I think if I turned it all the way up to 10 I could fry an egg on it.And one more thing for those who have never owned one – the difference between sleeping under a blanket with thick wires in it and a big electrical junction box at your feet, and the concern of electrical energy waves sinking into your body compared to not feeling any wires, not kicking a big heavy plug all night and knowing that only low voltage is being used, well the difference is like night and day. Note that on this blanket the part that plugs into the blanket is very small and it is located at the very edge where you could never feel it.
